Religious Education (RE)

Melbourn Primary School

We follow the Cambridgeshire agreed syllabus for RE

At Melbourn Primary School, one of our aims is to ‘broaden children’s horizons’; we are passionate about using RE to meet this goal. Children of all faiths and none are welcome to share their beliefs and understanding of the world in our RE lessons. Throughout children’s time at Melbourn, they will learn and revisit their learning about the six major world religions of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism, as well as other world views such as Humanism. We aim to encourage children’s intrinsic curiosities, whilst also promoting the British Values of respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs. Where possible, we aim to enrich our school calendar through celebration of different cultural festivals. We are passionate about giving children at Melbourn the opportunity to visit the holy buildings for at least six different religions by the time they leave us for secondary school.
