There is always so much packed into the Summer Term including residential trips, school plays and sports day to name just a few big events. For children in years 1, 4 and 6 there are also statutory assessments. I am always proud of the children and staff of MPS, who work hard throughout the year, but I have been especially proud this week when the last of the assessment results arrived.
The highlights are:
- 84% of our Year 1 children passed their phonic check compared to 81% of children nationally.
- 45% of our Year 4 children achieved full marks on the Multiplication Check. Last year the national figure was 34%. We are still waiting for the 2025 national results but we are anticipating we will be above the average.
- Our Year 6 children sit formal assessments in Reading, Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar and Maths. We are pleased that the children achieved mostly in line with national outcomes but we are particularly delighted with our Reading results which show that 79% of our children achieved the expected level compared to 75% nationally and that 38% achieved ‘greater depth’ above the national 33%.
Of course, formal assessment results are only a part of what our children achieve whilst with us, and seeing them grow into confident, mature and responsible young people who care about each other and the world is equally important. Nonetheless, there is much to be celebrated for the children in their individual results within these cumulative totals. Well done children; you are all super stars!
