On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of accompanying our KS2 cross country runners to Wimpole Hall for the South Cambs School Sports Partnership Big Schools Cross Country competition. 48 of our children, from years 3-6, took part running the 1.5K loop. The children ran in year group gender races against approximately 140 children from 24 schools.

The children were amazing! They ran their very best race, reserving enough ‘in the tank’ for their sprint finish, and performed brilliantly. We had many top twenty finishers and a huge shout out to Savannah and Eva in Year 3 coming 4th and 5th respectively, and to Joe in Year 4 who came 2nd! Just incredible! I am very proud to announce that our Year 3/4 team came 2nd overall out of 24 schools and our Year 5/6 team, 6th. These are fantastic and well-deserved results 😊.

I was so proud of the children, not just for their running but for their impeccable behaviour throughout the morning and also for their sportsmanship. The children not only cheered on their teammates but children from other schools too. I was especially proud of the Year 6 children who applauded every last runner home – well done children!

Running is an important part of our school PE curriculum. Huge thanks to the PE leaders Miss Gibbs and Mrs Toule and our very own running coach Mr Chapman for all your hard work and encouragement of the children. Your efforts are reaping rewards!

A quick thank you for supporting Children in Need; we raised £310 today!
