This week has been a week of stark contrasts. On Tuesday, I was out of school on my Designated Safeguarding Lead refresher training. Whilst this is essential and familiar training, it is always rather harrowing and I left feeling a huge sense of sadness at what some children have to endure.
When reviewing online safety, the trainer shared this quote: “The reality is that most children aren’t actively seeking out harmful, dangerous, or pornographic content – unfortunately it finds them.” (Previous Technology Secretary Peter Kyle). Please could I urge you all to consider how much and what you allow your children to access online and also to check your parental controls are in place so that they are protected from harmful content.
Today, on the other hand, has been a day of joy and kindness in school as we all took part in our Eid festival. How wonderful to see so many children in their cultural traditional clothing and to see so many hands adorned with henna patterns. I am curious to know how many children liked their dates snack!
Have a lovely sunny weekend.
