How relieved was I that we didn’t have a heatwave or rain on Wednesday! The weather was almost perfect for our 26/27 school year Sports Day.
This year we separated the event by age group and this enabled us to give the children more opportunities to race. All children competed in flat, obstacle and fun water races, along with an egg and spoon race for those in KS1 or hurdles in KS2. The KS2 children also displayed their enthusiasm for running, with most opting to enter the long-distance race.
Another advantage of having two events meant that adults could get closer to the track to support their children. We appreciated the PTFA hosting a refreshment stall, and the picnic at lunchtime was a lovely opportunity for families to be together.
Well done to the winners – green team! A huge thank you: to the children for showing such sportsmanship, to the staff for their efforts in running the day, to the house captains who supported their teams and helped with the running of the races, and to our wonderful PE leaders Mrs Toule and Mrs Barrett for their organisation of the event; all in all what a great day!
