My favourite days at school are those that involve seeing the achievements of our children. I began the morning by having hot chocolate with the headteacher certificate winners and then spent the morning visiting classes with Mrs Luckett.
The children have settled well into their new classes and adjusted to the expectations of a new year group. We were particularly pleased with the care the children are taking with the presentation of their work – only using one square per digit in maths, crossing through and not scribbling out mistakes and carefully using a ruler are the key messages that teachers have to say a lot in September! We were particularly wowed in Foundation Stage by the children’s attentive listening and sitting smartly on the carpet; have they really only been in school for 4 weeks!
Seeing the September blank classroom walls being brought to life with children’s work is always lovely as there is much to celebrate. We saw collages of owls, silhouette sky paintings of the Great Fire of London, sketches of Greek columns and the most heart-warming drawings of the Foundation children’s families that really made us smile. 😊
What a great day and excellent start to this school year!
