What a full on first few school days of 2026 we have had! From unexpected snow on Monday, contractors in the Children’s Centre next door triggering the school fire alarm on Tuesday to torrential rain and wet play on Friday it hasn’t been a very ‘normal’ week or a gradual start to term!
There has been much excitement about snow, Christmas presents and activities. The talk at hot chocolate this morning was whether it was ok to eat tomato ketchup with Christmas dinner! Despite the buzz the children have settled back into school routines well and worked incredibly hard.
On Wednesday I showed two new school governors around school. We saw children demonstrating their learning about the weather in Year 1, vertices and shapes in Year 2, continents and oceans of the world in Year 3, maths problems in Year 4 and research skills and non-chronological report writing skills in Year 5/6.
What a busy week! I am looking forward to a rest this weekend and eating more of the Christmas left overs – we still haven’t started the Christmas cake or panettone!
