It has been another hot and clammy week in school! On Monday I enjoyed accompanying our year 5 maths team to the Cambridgeshire Y5 Maths Challenge Final, at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, at the University of Cambridge. Eighty-eight schools entered the competition with 16 in the final. The children worked collaboratively applying their maths skills across four rounds including a memory round, team round, relay and ‘extra thinks’. Our team came 8th overall but 2nd in the ‘extra thinks’ round and 3rd in the memory round. This was a wonderful achievement and an incredible opportunity for our children – huge congratulations to Fletcher, Imogen, James & Val.
Then on Wednesday, I joined the year 6 children on their residential trip in the heart of Thetford Forest, Norfolk. I had the most fantastic time circulating around the four groups to join in with as many activities as I could squeeze into one day! Seeing children overcome fears and challenge themselves to climb higher or take a leap of a faith from a high platform or into the river is always such a privilege and joy. I had forgotten just how wobbly the tiny platform at the top of the trapeze is! I was equally not prepared for the drop that happened when you pulled a thin yellow cord on the new mega swing! The children have had immense fun and shown courage, resilience and great encouragement of each other. I am proud of you year 6!
I can’t believe there is only one week left of this school year; there is still so much to
